China’s 1.2TB per second Internet Network Interlinks Major Cities: China recently unveiled a groundbreaking, lightning-fast internet network that connects Beijing, Wuhan, and Guangzhou. This new network is touted to transfer an astounding 1.2 terabytes of data per second, marking a significant leap in internet capabilities.

China’s 1.2TB per second Internet Speed

Spanning 1,860 miles, this backbone network acts as the data highway linking these cities, reportedly capable of transmitting the equivalent of 150 movies per second, according to the South China Morning Post. However, these claims have not been independently verified.

The development of this high-speed network is attributed to a collaboration between Tsinghua University, China Mobile Ltd, Huawei Technologies, and Cernet.com Corp. China celebrates this as a major milestone achieved under the national Future Internet Technology Infrastructure (FITI) project.

Officials from Tsinghua University affirm that since its trial launch on July 31, the FITI backbone has operated consistently, passing various tests with stability and reliability. They also highlight that both the software and hardware components are domestically produced, showcasing China’s self-sufficiency in this technological feat.
